Former pilot airline admitted obscene mid-flight act at the cockpit

A former American pilot accepted that, during a flight last year, he had committed a loud, indecent or obscene act.

The first woman officer Michael Haak 60 had been exposed to his laptop and watched pornography.

As the flight continued, Haak continued to be unsuitable in the cockpit.

A Maryland judge ordered him to pay the $5,000 ( £ 3,500) fine for one year's probation.

On 10 August 2020, the court heard the occurrence occurred during a flight from Philadelphia International Airport to Orlando International Airport.

When the flight reached cruise altitude, Haak came out of the sea

Haak has continued to be involved in inappropriate conduct in the cockpit, as the first officer has continued in his duties."

The first officer Haak had never met before, they added.

The assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Cunningham said the co-pilot "has the right, irrespective of what has caused or prompted him, not to be subject to this kind of behaviour."

In Maryland, Haak was charged because the aircraft was flying over at that time. He pleaded guilty to commit an act of lewdness, indecentness or obscene deliberately in a public place.

Haak apologised for his conduct in a statement via video link and added: "It began as a consensus between myself and the other pilot. In a thousand years, I never thought it would turn into that."

US Judge J Mark Coulson said Haak had a traumatic effect on the first officer and might have affected passenger safety.

Haak, from Longwood, Florida, has been an airline pilot for 27 years before retiring last year in late August

The airline stated in a statement that it did not tolerate 'this type of behaviour and would take immediate action if this is confirmed.' A spokesperson stated that after Haak left the airline voluntarily, the company learned of the incident.

It stated that it had therefore stopped paying him any benefits that he had the right to after his retirement.
